It's today. Yes, today! GIS Day... part of the Geography Awareness Week: "This year’s Geography Awareness Week theme ['Declare your interdependence'] explores the idea that we are all are connected to the rest of the world through the decisions we make on a daily basis, including what foods we eat and the things we buy."
There is relatively little on the geoblogs this year on the topic. APB links to a National Geographic press release about Ten Things You Might Not Know About Our World. VerySpatial offers a podcast with Peter Sforza of the Center for Geospatial Information Technology about some of the projects at Virginia Tech.

Yesterday I reminded our readers that it's the Geography Awareness Week, which was introduced in 1987, but it doesn't stop there, today is GIS Day!
Happy GIS Day everyone...
A reminder: "GIS Day is held each year in the third week of November, on the Wednesday during Geography Awareness Week, a geographic literacy initiative sponsored by the National Geographic Society. [...] [from the about:] More than 80 countries will participate in holding local events such as corporate open houses, hands-on workshops, community expos, school assemblies, and more."
