The Geospatial industry is ripe for disruption when more than 2/3rd of participants think the market leader is no longer providing innovation!
I was torn between "keeps in silos" and "any mono is bad", but ended up choosing the latter, even though I don't really think it's like that.
For example, if I want to make an small app for widespread distribution that interacts with our arcgis server I have to choose between ios, android, windows mobile, html+js or arcgis runtime. Or several of them in parallel -- very expensive and wasteful. A little monoculture in this space would be a good idea provided the monoculture was one of interoperabilty. I've had more than enough of Internet Explorer's version of monoculture thankyouverymuch, and that's what I want to vote against, in so much as that is possible.
